About me

Not just a pretty face
As a university-trained linguist, I cut my teeth teaching modern foreign languages to secondary school students and became Head of MFL before taking the leap and returning to university to retrain as an interpreter and translator. For over a decade now, I have been a successful freelance interpreter for numerous end clients. Having spent more than two decades in the UK, I have acquired near-native knowledge of the language and culture, but I also actively keep my native German up to date through continuous professional development. The same applies to my so-called C-language, French, which I interpret out of but not into in line with professional standards.
I am a Chartered Linguist and full member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI), the German Association of Conference Interpreters (VKD-Senior) and the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL). I am also actively involved in working groups and associations that further research and knowledge-sharing in the interpreting community, such as the ITI Interpreters’ Development Network, and I promote the profession through outreach activities in schools and universities.
